BERA apologises for the delay, however the Research Kgotla has been scheduled to take place as a pre-conference activity on the 21st July 2009 where papers will be presented.

Research Kgotla is a new initiative by BERA to promote cross-disciplinary research and scholarly cooperation among young researchers. The Kgotla’s primary objective is to offer a forum for young researchers to share their research projects, either as affiliates or independent of BERA. This new initiatives places emphasis on multidisciplinary sharing, arguing that today’s societies face complex problems that must be addressed through some cross disciplinary/sectoral approach.

Who can attend?
This first symposium is intended to attract young researchers, for example, new graduate degree holders across different settings, e.g. Tertiary, Secondary and Primary education, organizations of all types (CBOs, NGOs, Private and individuals) who would like to share their research ideas with others. Also, graduate students who are eager to share their research ideas are welcomed.
BERA intends to make this research Kgotla an annual event, however upon request from clients more Research Kgotla meetings can be arranged. It shall work in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Skill Development and educational institutions as well as other organizations and stakeholders to make it a success. To sustain the RESEARCH KGOTLA’s and make their impact felt locally and globally, BERA shall work with stakeholders to keep a profile of researchers who participate, showing clearly their current and future research interests and contact addresses.

In addition to the book of abstracts, the Research Kgotla projects shall be disseminated through other avenues that shall be decided and determined by resource availability. Funding sources and avenues shall be explored.

The first Research Kgotla shall focus on a special area of Practitioner-Researcher with the following theme:
