Petroleum Regulations DRAFT

BERA ANNUAL REPORT 2020-2021

BERA exists to regulate the energy sector to ensure a competitive environment in accordance with international best practice. Our core responsibility is to provide an efficient energy regulatory framework for regulated sector with the primary mandate of providing the economic regulation of the sector. The following standards have been adopted and approved by the Authority and shall be used in setting compliance standards for licensees as well as for monitoring compliance.

Star Rating Tool

The Act mandates the Authority to set industry service standards as well as to determine processes and methodologies for monitoring performance of the regulated sector (section 33 (2)). In this premise the Authority is developing a star rating program as a way to encourage high performance and induce competition in the petroleum sector.
